In a significant move towards ensuring the highest quality of the data gathered this 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS) field operations, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Pangasinan Provincial Statistical Office conducted Map and Data Processing Provincial Level Training. This training, held from 2 – 6 September 2024 at Pangasinan Regency Hotel, was a crucial step in preparing Map and Data Processors for the various activities that follow the data collection phase.

The training was led by Chief Statistical Specialist Edgar M. Norberte together with Senior Statistical Specialist Verna M. Palsimon, Statistical Analyst Allen Joy B. Paulo, and Information Systems Analyst II Vince Anthony S. Gandol. Statistical Specialist II Marinel E. Bajo from Population and Housing Census Division (PHCD) and Statistical Analyst Sherie Ann Joy N. Delos Santos from the Office of the Assistant National Statistician (OANS) of Censuses and Technical Coordination Office – National Censuses Service (CTCO-NCS) provided technical assistance and support during the training.

Map data processing was held during the first two days of the training and was aimed to ensure the quality and accuracy of geotagged data, in relation to the collected household data. Meanwhile, the last three days of the training intended for data processing aimed to equip participants with essential skills in processing, checking completeness and consistency, and validating the data collected.

One hundred four (104) Data Processors and fifty-seven (57) Map Data Processors were hired, trained and engaged in hands-on workshops, applying their acquired skills to attain a deeper understanding on the map and data processes.

The provincial level training is a nationwide initiative to ensure that all provinces are prepared for the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS map and data processing activity. It aims to foster more accurate and timely statistical information to support evidence-based decision-making and policy formulation.
