The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - La Union Provincial Statistical Office conducted the 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (2024 POPCEN-CBMS) City and Municipal Level Training in various training centers across the province.
The training for hired Team Supervisors (TSs) and Enumerators (ENs) was scheduled in two batches. The first batch was from 01 to 07 July 2024 that covered the municipalities of Agoo, Bacnotan, Bagulin, Balaoan, Caba, Naguilian, Pugo, San Gabriel, Sudipen, and Tubao while the second batch was conducted from 08 to 13 July 2024 that included the City of San Fernando and municipalities of Aringay, Bangar, Bauang, Burgos, Luna, Rosario, San Juan, Sto. Tomas, and Santol.
The training aimed to provide the participants with the knowledge and skills needed for accurate data collection and geotagging activity, instill confidence in conducting the field enumeration, and prepare them to handle any enumeration problems that may arise during the actual field operations.
During the training, the PSA-La Union Provincial Focal Person, City and Municipal Focal Persons, and hired Census Area Supervisors (CASs) served as trainers.
To ensure readiness for the rigorous tasks ahead in data collection and geotagging activities, the training session also included exercises as well as simulations that included mock interviews and field interviews. An open forum was also conducted at the end of every training session to allow the participants to seek clarification and deepen their understanding of the topics discussed.
During the City/Municipal Level Training of hired census personnel, the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Region I also provided assistance to the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS through free notarization of contracts, Personal Data Sheet (PDS), and Oath of Data Privacy of hired TSs and ENs.
Chief Statistical Specialist Danites E. Teñido, PhD, of PSA-La Union, visited the training centers and provided a message highlighting the crucial role of every hired personnel involved in the implementation of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS in the province.
Moreover, Local Chief Executives (LCEs) in the province also visited the training centers and expressed their support for the conduct of the 2024 POCEN-CBMS in their their respective municipalities.
The 2024 POPCEN-CBMS is a nationwide undertaking aimed at gathering comprehensive data on population demographics and community characteristics. It serves as a foundation for evidence-based policymaking, planning, and development at the national and local levels in the Philippines.
