PSA Turns Over the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System Data Results to the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur

The Provincial Local Government Unit of Ilocos Sur, first in Ilocos Region, received the 2022 CBMS data results of the 15 participating municipalities namely, Galimuyod, Gregorio Del Pilar, Lidlidda, Nagbukel, Quirino, Santiago, San Esteban, San Ildefonso, San Vicente, Santa Catalina, Santa Lucia, Santa Maria, Sigay, Sugpon, and Suyo.

The Provincial Data Turnover Ceremony in the province of Ilocos Sur was conducted on 25 March 2024. The ceremony was spearheaded by the following PSA, DILG, PLGU, and LGU key officials: National Statistician and Civil Registrar General (NSCRG) Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa; Assistant National Statistician (ANS) Kristine Joy S. Briones of the Community-Based Statistics Service (CBSS); Regional Director Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman of the Regional Statistical Services.

Office I (RSSO I); Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Jeanette M. Marzan of the Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of llocos Sur; Provincial Director (PD) Randy S. Dela Rosa of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) of llocos Sur; Governor Jeremias Singson of the Provincial Local Government Unit of llocos Sur; Data Protection Officer (DPO) Designate Project Evaluation Officer Engr. Odilon P. Negapatan; Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (PPDC) Ar. Estrelita I. Rugnao; Municipal Mayors; and Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators (MPDCs).

In her welcome message, Atty. De Guzman emphasized the importance of data that serves as foundation in which we build our strategies, decisions and drive our progress. She also stated that the turnover of data is a symbol of trust, responsibility, and commitment to transparency and improvement.

Usee Mapa gave his appreciation to the collective efforts and hard work of all CBMS field personnel dedicating their time and effort while ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the CBMS data. He also shared his vision that through the utilization of CBMS data, every individual will be seen, heard, and valued, and every community will thrive.

ANS Briones of CBSS presented the highlights of the results of-the 2022 CBMS for the 15 participating municipalities. The presentation included data on peace and security, health, food security, sanitation, education, and employment. The Provincial Local Government Unit of llocos Sur formally received the 2022 CBMS Data through the signing of data sharing agreement by the key officials from PSA and PLGU. Honorable Governor Singson expressed his heartfelt gratitude through an acceptance message.

Finally, CSS Marzan of PSO llocos Sur thanked everyone for the success of the 2022 CBMS despite the many challenges each municipality encountered from data collection, data and map processing to data validation and verification. It is now with the hands of the provincial and municipal planning development and coordination officials to maximize the use of the data for the benefit of the province and its people.
