Physics student champs in 27th Philippine Statistics Quiz Regional Finals

Kenji V. Idica, a Bachelor of Science in Physics student at the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), was declared as the Regional Champion in the 27th Phlippine Statistics Quiz (PSO) held simultaneously throughout the country on 10 November 2023. He outshined the eleven provincial winners in the llocos Region, making him one of the 17 young statistics whizzes in the country, who will represent their respective regions and will battle it out to reign supreme in the National Finals to be held on 07 December 2023 in Manila.

Russel Jay A. Fuentesfina, also a freshman student taking up Bachelor of Science ln Physics at the UNP, and Elvis T. Tabugader, Jr., a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) student at the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), emerged as the 2nd and 3rd Placer,
respectively.

PSA RSSO I Regional Director Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman, with the members of the PSQ Steering Committee from the different regional line agencies and technical staff from PSA Central Office, awarded the certificates and plaques to the winners and their coaches.

The members of the Board of Judges were officials from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Department of Education (DepEd), and Department of Trade and lndustry (DTl).

PSQ is an annual undertaking of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Philippine Statistical Association, lnc. (PSAI). lt aims to assess the proficiency and competency of college freshmen on statistics and promote awareness and appreciation on the field.
