Pangasinan Provincial Statistical Office headed by Chief Statistical Specialist Edgar M. Norberte conducted the Provincial Level Training for the 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS) Geotagging of Service Facilities and Government Projects last 04 to 07 of March at the Pangasinan Regency Hotel, Calasiao, Pangasinan.

 

 

During the first two days of training with 40 Map Data Collectors, 10 Team Supervisors, 13 Map Data Processors, and 7 Map Data Reviewers, topics on Concepts and Definitions of Key Terms, Technical Requirements, and Tablet-Based Map Data Collection were explored. The remaining two days were allotted for participants’ hands-on sessions on Map Generation, Data Processing, and the meticulous Review and Submission of POPCEN-CBMS Form 8 Shapefiles. 

 

 

Resource speakers of the activity were Senior Statistical Specialist Verna M. Palsimon, Statistical Analyst Allen Joy B. Paulo, Assistant Statistician Renalie Ferrer and Information System Analyst II Vince Anthony S. Gandol, all from PSA Pangasinan. In addition, Senior Statistical Specialist and Regional Mapping Focal Person Divino Amor Rivera of the Regional Statistical Services Office I (RSSOI) joined the pool of trainers from Pangasinan during the 2nd and 3rd day of the training.

 

Participants were equipped with cutting-edge skills to support government projects and community data initiatives across the province to effectively conduct the Geotagging of Service Facilities, Government Projects and Building Constructions for the 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS). Familiarization of concepts and technical aspects of geotagging to ensure accurate generation, flawless processing, and consolidation of map data were given emphasis. Participants were also trained to prepare and submit properly reviewed and scrutinized shapefiles for use in broader CBMS and Census data collection endeavors. Ultimately, the training aimed to enhance the participants' ability to contribute to the successful implementation of geotagging, ensuring accurate mapping of government projects and service facilities, which will support the informed decision-making, resource allocation, and community development.
