The Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA – RSSO I) with the Philippine Statistics Authority –Sectoral Statistics Office - Social Sector Statistics Service (SSO - SSSS) - Poverty and Human Development Statistics Division (PHDSD) and Income and Expenditure Statistics Division (IESD) conducted the Regional Dissemination Forum of Ilocos Region’s 2023 Full Year Official Poverty Statistics at J&V Hotel and Resort, City of San Fernando, La Union on 18 October 2024.

During the event, Deputy National Statistician of the PSA - Sectoral Statistics Office, Dr. Divina Gracia L. Del Prado stressed the importance of poverty statistics and encouraged everyone to actively support the Philippine Development Plan’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in eradicating extreme poverty by 2030. On the other hand, Mr. Uriel V. Patacsil, Statistical Analyst of PSA RSSO I - SOCD discussed the highlights of the 2023 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) of the Ilocos Region. 

Mr. Jayson Christ M. Conti, the Senior Statistical Specialist of the PSA SSO - SSSS - PHDSD, presented the Official Poverty Estimation Methodology, highlighting the estimation of Poverty Thresholds and Poverty Incidence. Moreover, Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman, Regional Director of the PSA RSSO I discussed the 2023 Full Year Official Poverty Statistics of the Ilocos Region.

Mr. Ednore Freynon N. Perez, Chief of the Monitoring and Evaluation Division of the

NEDA - RO1, conveyed the statement from the National Economic and Development Authority underlining the agency’s programs on Employment, Education, Infrastructure Development, Disaster Risk Reduction Programs, Quality Health Care, and Nutrition to alleviate the poverty incidence in the region.
