Pangasinan Records 43,297 Registered Live Births in 2023
In 2023, the Philippines reported a total of 1,448,522 registered live births, a decrease from the 1,455,393 live births in 2022. Meanwhile, in the Ilocos Region, registered live births increased to 67,987 in 2023, from 63,240 recorded in 2022. (Table 1)
Registered births in Pangasinan recorded a total of 43,297 in 2023, which represented 63.7 percent of the total registered births in the Ilocos Region. This marks a growth from the 40,304 registered births reported in 2022.
Province of Pangasinan recorded the highest number of registered live births in Ilocos Region
In Ilocos Region, Pangasinan registered the highest number of live births in 2023 with 43,297, followed by La Union with 9,719, Ilocos Sur recorded 7,909 live births, while Ilocos Norte reported the lowest count at 7,062. (Figure 1)
September recorded the highest number of registered live births in Pangasinan
In 2023, September registered the highest number of live births at 4,270 out of the total 43,297 registered births in the province, while February recorded the lowest with 3,158 live births. Also, September in 2022 recorded the highest number of live births in Pangasinan, with 4,789 out of the total 40,304 registered births, while August had the lowest with 1,210. (Figure 2)
Male live births outnumber female live births in Pangasinan
In 2023, Ilocos Region recorded a higher number of male live births at 35,401, surpassing the 32,586 female live births. Similarly, Pangasinan registered more male live births than female live births in 2023. Of the 43,297 registered live births, 22,468 were males, while 20,829 were females. (Figure 3)
