Based on the provisional data on Vital Statistics released on May 31, 2024, Ilocos Region registered 53,384 live births from January to December 2023, a decline of 15.9 percent compared to same period of 2022. This showed a 146 daily average registered live births for the said period.

On the other hand, figure 2 below showed a decline in the total number of monthly registered live births towards the end of both 2022 and 2023. In 2022, the highest number of registered live births was recorded in the month of October at 7,018, while the least was recorded in August with 3,333 registered live births. On the other hand, the month of September recorded the highest number of registered live births in 2023 at 5,718 which accounted to a 191 registered live births per day. Meanwhile, the month of December recorded the least with 1,384 or about 45 registered live births per day.

All of the provinces in Ilocos Region recorded increase in the number of registered live births in 2023, except in the province of Pangasinan which recorded a decline of 26.1 percent. On the other hand, the province of Ilocos Norte registered the highest increase at 4.4 percent. This was followed by La Union at 2.6 percent, and Ilocos Sur at 2.1 percent.
