The number of registered live births in Ilocos Region in 2023 reached 67,987, which was 7.5 percent higher than the previous year. The total number of registered live births in the region also accounted to an average of 173 and 186 daily average registered live births in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

Registered Live Births by Month
On the other hand, figure 2 below showed an increase in the total number of registered live births during the month of September for both 2022 and 2023. Likewise, the month of September recorded the highest number of registered live births in 2023 with a total of 6,742, while it ranked second highest in 2022. The months of September, October, and November consistently recorded the top three highest number of registered live births in 2022 and 2023. Meanwhile, February recorded the least number of registered live births in 2023 at 4,930.

Registered Live Births by Province
The Province of Pangasinan registered 43,297 live births in 2023, which accounted for majority (63.7%) of the total registered live births in Ilocos Region. This is equivalent to 119 average daily registered live births in the province. Meanwhile, La Union registered 9,719 live births during the same period and shared 14.3 percent, or around 27 average daily registered live births.
Ilocos Sur on the other hand registered 7,909 and accounted for 11.6 percent of the total registered live births in the region. This is around 22 average daily registered live births. Further, the 7,062 registered live births of Ilocos Norte accounted for 10.4 percent with an average registered live births of 19 per day during the same period.

All of the provinces in Ilocos Region recorded increase in the number of registered live births in 2023. Among the four provinces, La Union recorded the highest increase at 9.1 percent. Meanwhile, the 43,297 registered live births of Pangasinan in 2023 was 7.4 percent higher than the previous year. Likewise, the registered live births in the provinces of Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte increased by 7.3 and 6.0 percent, respectively, during the same period.

Registered Live Births by Sex
Ilocos Region and its four provinces recorded higher number of registered male live births than that of the females in 2022 and 2023. In 2023, Ilocos Region registered 35,401 male live births, and 32,586 female live births. This accounted for 109 male live births for every 100 female live births, lower than the 110:100 sex ratio of registered live births in 2022.
Among the provinces, La Union recorded the highest male to female ratio (113:100) on number of registered live births in 2023. This was followed by Ilocos Sur with sex ratio of 112:100, while Pangasinan and Ilocos Norte registered 108 and 104 male live births, respectively, for every 100 female live births.
