The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - La Union Provincial Statistical Office, PSA-Regional Statistical Services Office I (RSSO I), and La Union Civil Registrars Association (LUCRA) spearheaded the 35th Civil Registration Month (CRM) celebration in La Union and formally commenced the month-long celebration with an Opening Ceremony on 03 February 2025 at Speaker Pro Tempore Francisco I. Ortega Convention Center (La Union Convention Center), Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union.
In accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 682, the month of February is declared as Civil Registration Month each year in the country. The 35th CRM celebration revolves around the theme, "Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-Fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) System," which focuses on developing a responsive and adaptable system for registering vital events ensuring it can effectively meet current and future needs of citizens by leveraging modern technology and practices.
The event was attended by personnel of PSA-La Union headed by Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Danites E. Teñido, PhD; personnel of PSA-RSSO I headed by Regional Director Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman; City and Municipal Civil Registrars (C/MCRs); and staff from various departments of the component Local Government Units (LGUs) of La Union.
The Provincial Governor Hon. Raphaelle Veronica (Rafy) Ortega-David represented by Executive Assistant (EA) Eleazar Belgica, PhD, PSA-RSSO I Regional Director Atty. De Guzman represented by Registration Officer IV Zenaida L. Garcillan, and LUCRA president MCR Laida G. Rico served as resource speakers.
During the opening ceremony, several contests were also conducted in line with the month-long activities for the 35th CRM celebration. These included Sayawit, Logo Making Contest, Infographics Making Contest, and CRVS Quiz Bee.
Several activities are also lined-up for the month-long celebration. Some of these are hanging of streamer and posting of social media cards, radio interviews, LCRO visitation, CRVS information dissemination, hybrid training on civil registration laws and regulations for PSA-La Union personnel and LCRO personnel, on-site CRVS exhibits, ceremonial feeding and gift-giving activity, tree planting activity, free issuance of certification by Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs), mobile civil registration, and mass wedding in selected municipalities.
