PSA turns over 2022 CBMS Data to LGU Rosario, La Union

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Regional Statistical Services Office I (RSSO I) and PSA – La Union successfully conducted the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Data Turnover Ceremony (DTC) at the 3rd Floor, SB Hall, Municipal Hall Building, Poblacion East, Rosario, La Union on 28 December 2023.

Among the officials in attendance were the following: Supervising Statistical Specialist (SSS) Teresa B. Olarte of PSA - RSSO I Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD), Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Dr. Danites E. Teñido of PSA – La Union, Mayor Atty. Bellarmin A. Flores II, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Engr. Juanito M. Quinto Jr., department heads and personnel of LGU Rosario, and PSA technical personnel.

SSS Olarte, on behalf of Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman, PSA - RSSO I Regional Director, delivered the opening message congratulating everyone involved in the process. She expressed high hopes that the CBMS data turnover will mark as a catalyst for growth, innovation, and the advancement of society as a whole.

The highlights of the 2022 CBMS results for the LGU of Rosario collected from a total of 14,268 responding households was presented by Dr. Teñido. The 2022 CBMS in Rosario covered a total population of 55,285 from 33 participating barangays as of 01 July 2022. Dr. Teñido presented statistics on basic services such as access to electricity and internet, main sources of water for drinking and for general use, service level of toilet facility, households’ perception on safety when walking alone in the community, household food insecurity experience in the past 12 months, education, labor force and employment, education facilities, health facilities, and disaster preparedness.

 “We accept with all our heart, with all our mind, with all our strength, we accept the CBMS data. Even without the agreement that we signed, we will do our best to make use of the CBMS data to serve our community. Rest assured that whatever is provided for in the agreement, we will do our best to deliver. This CBMS data is a potent and effective tool that we are going to use, especially in economy and in disaster risk reduction management” said Mayor Flores, as he delivered his acceptance message.

Meanwhile, Engr. Quinto shared their future plans particularly compliance of the LGU to the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and improvement of CBMS facilities using the financial assistance provided by the Provincial Local Government of La Union (PGLU). “Our plan is to ensure the security of our information database,” Engr. Quinto said.

Striving for continuous progress, the community development plans of LGU Rosario may now be enriched by employing data-driven local governance catering to the specific needs of its constituents.
