PSA conducts 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Data Turnover Ceremony in Bagulin, La Union

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Regional Statistical Services Office I (RSSO I) and La Union Provincial Statistical Office successfully handed over the 2022 CBMS Data to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bagulin, La Union through a Data Turnover Ceremony (DTC) on 16 January 2024.

The LGU of Bagulin was the only municipality in La Union that was fully-funded by the PSA during the 2022 CBMS implementation in the province. The 2022 CBMS was successfully carried out in said LGU through the collaborative efforts of the PSA, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and LGU Bagulin and through the support of line agencies and stakeholders.

Present during the remarkable event were Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Teresa B. Olarte of PSA - RSSO l Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD); Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Dr. Danites E. Teñido and Senior Statistical Specialist (SrSS) and CBMS Provincial Focal Person Marieta P. Rivera of PSA – La Union; LGU Bagulin officials headed by Mayor Virgilio C. Flor; Engr. Jenny J. Fernandez, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC); and Venus A. Dangpilen, Designated Data Protection Officer and Municipal Statistician; Department Heads, and other LGU Bagulin staff. Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) II Archie F. Amon of the DILG also witnessed the ceremony.

“Today, we honor the efforts of those who have paved the way before us, and we challenge ourselves to build upon their legacy. Let us cultivate a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and innovation as we dive deep into the vast ocean of data at our fingertips,” said OIC Olarte as she delivered the message of Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman, PSA – RSSO I Regional Director.

Dr. Teñido presented the highlights of the 2022 CBMS results of Bagulin. The presentation included the total household population, labor force, basic services, safety, school attendance, housing characteristics, and household disaster preparedness, among others.

Mayor Flor wholeheartedly embraced the outcome of the 2022 CBMS as shown during the presentation of the highlights of the 2022 CBMS results. He expressed his sincere appreciation to the PSA for providing the LGU with essential data specifically to address the needs of its constituents. He also thanked the CBMS enumerators who gathered the data for Bagulin, La Union.

Moreover, Engr. Fernandez, presented the plans and programs of the LGU such as the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP), Ecological Profile, and Livelihood Assistance Plan, that will utilize the CBMS data. She also underscored the importance of data pertaining to women, youth, persons with disabilities (PWD), senior citizens, indigenous people, and vulnerable groups in the community that can be extracted from the CBMS.

The DTC is a good venue for the LGU to appreciate the information gathered from household respondents and barangay profiles. This is also a testament of PSA’s commitment to the LGU in producing accurate and reliable data that will be beneficial in local-level planning, policy-making and impact monitoring.
