LGU Pugo receives 2022 CBMS data from PSA

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Regional Statistical Services Office I (RSSO I) and PSA - La Union Provincial Statistical Office in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pugo, La Union successfully conducted the Data Turnover Ceremony (DTC) for the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) on 22 December 2023 at the 2nd Floor Muti-purpose Building, Pugo, La Union.

Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Juanito Y. Yabes of the Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD) of PSA – RSSO I delivered the opening message. CSS Yabes thanked the LGU of Pugo for the support extended in all the surveys of the PSA, particularly in the implementation of the 2022 CBMS. He also commended the efforts of the data collectors who painstakingly visited all households in the municipality including those in the far-flung areas to be able to collect the data for the 2022 CBMS. 

For the LGU officials to appreciate the results of the 2022 CBMS, Dr. Danites E. Teñido, CSS of PSA-La Union, presented the highlights of the 2022 CBMS results in Pugo. The presentation included data on basic services such as access to electricity and internet, main sources of water for drinking and for general use, service level of toilet facility, households’ perception on safety when walking alone in the community, household food insecurity experience in the past 12 months, education, labor force and employment, education facilities, health facilities, and disaster preparedness. These data were collected from a total of 4,892 responding households covering a total population of 18,147 from 14 participating barangays of Pugo, La Union as of 01 July 2022.

Moreover, Architech Alfredo G. Tubera, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC), presented the Plans and Programs for Managing and Securing the CBMS Data, in strict compliance with the Data Privacy Policy of the LGU. Architech Tubera underscored the importance of accomplishment of proper forms before the release of any requested data.

Meanwhile, Mayor Martin, in his acceptance message, expressed his gratitude to the PSA for the generation of needed data to be used by the LGU particularly in program planning for the good of his constituents.

Lastly, in his closing message, Supervising Statistical Specialist (SSS) Malvin A. Quinto expressed his deepest gratitude to the LGU of Pugo, barangay officials, household respondents, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and to all who have helped and provided support in the implementation of the CBMS in the municipality.
