ILOCOS SUR. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Ilocos Sur, through the dedicated registration team of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) recently completed a house-to-house campaign for physically challenged residents in Barangay Pantay-Tamurong, Caoayan, Ilocos Sur on 04 October 2024 as part of the nationwide rollout of PhilSys.
The initiative aimed to ensure that even the most vulnerable members of the community, including the elderly and physically challenged, could easily access government services through the National ID system. The team successfully registered a total of 10 physically challenged clients during the home visits.
In addition to house-to-house campaigns, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) employs other strategies to ensure comprehensive registration coverage. These include setting up mobile registration units in remote or underserved areas, coordinating with local government units to establish registration hubs in barangay halls or community centers, and collaborating with schools and workplaces to register students, employees, and faculty members.
The local government of Caoayan, in cooperation with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), continues to promote inclusivity by bringing government services closer to the people, especially those who are physically unable to visit registration centers.
The successful registration drive is a testament to the commitment of the LGU and PSA to ensure that all Filipinos, regardless of their circumstances, have access to the benefits of the National ID system, including easier access to financial services, social protection, and other government programs.
