The economy of Ilocos Sur continued to expand by 8.5 percent in 2023. This was faster than the 7.1 percent growth recorded in 2022. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Ilocos Sur was estimated at PhP 97.86 billion. (Figure 1)

The industries with the fastest growth rates were: Transportation and storage with 60.6 percent, Accommodation and food service activities with 23.1 percent, and Other Services with 16.8 percent. (Figure 2)

Ilocos Sur registered the second fastest growth among provinces in Region I, with 8.5 percent expansion. In terms of share of the provinces, Ilocos Sur contributed 14.0 percent of the Gross Regional Domestic Product at PhP 701.47 billion in 2023.
