BANTAY, ILOCOS SUR. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Ilocos Sur successfully conducted a Data Dissemination Forum on Agricultural Statistics and the 28th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Provincial Elimination at La Jenns Hotel and Resto Grill, Bantay, Ilocos Sur on 18 October 2024. This significant activity brought together representatives from various sectors such as government agencies, educational institutions, and local stakeholders. It served as platform for collaboration, and insight-sharing among participants.
The activity began with a data dissemination forum highlighting the Agricultural Production Performance of Ilocos Sur for the first semester of 2024 that was presented by Senior Statistical Specialist (SrSS) Melchor S. Bautista. The dissemination provided key insights into the province’s agricultural output and trends, helping stakeholders understand the current state of the agriculture sector. In addition, Information Officer I Ethelwolda Nichole P. Carbonell provided information on the Digital National ID, updating attendees on the various features of the National ID, PhilSys Services, and Authentication Services, aiming to impart awareness and encourage unregistered citizens to register on the National ID, which plays a vital role in streamlining government services and improving access to essential resources.
After the data dissemination forum, the 28th PSQ Provincial Elimination was held, bringing 25 first year college students in Ilocos Sur. This competition, organized annually by the PSA, promotes statistical literacy among college freshmen and highlights the importance of data in shaping informed decisions. Contestants showcased their knowledge and understanding of statistics through a series of challenging quiz rounds. The competition was keenly contested, with the students displaying exceptional skills in interpreting data and answering questions on statistical concepts.
The activity concluded with an awarding ceremony. The notable winners are as follows:
PSA- Ilocos Sur congratulates the winners of the contest. The top three winners will represent the province in the PSQ regional eliminations in November 2024.
