The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - La Union Provincial Statistical Office, through its Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) team, has successfully registered a total of 698, 686 individuals under the PhilSys under Step 2 registration as of 30 September 2024.
Step 2 registration process involves verifying demographic data and capturing biometric information such as fingerprints, iris scan, and front-facing photo.
A detailed breakdown of the number of registered individuals by city/municipality in La Union since its initial implementation in the first quarter of 2021 is presented in the table below.
The PSA-La Union continues its unwavering commitment to ensure that all residents of the province are registered under the PhilSys. These included the conduct of mobile registration activities in different barangays and collaboration with institutions to facilitate PhilSys institutional registration.
To make PhilSys registration more accessible, the PSA-La Union continuously operates its Fix Registration Center situated at Doña Pepita Bldg., Quezon Ave., Brgy. II, City of San Fernando, La Union. This center serves as a dedicated location for residents to register or inquire about PhilSys as well as a center to update a PhilSys-registered individual’s demographic information if there were erroneous entry/ies with his or her National ID.
PSA-La Union also deploys PhilSys personnel at the Civil Registration Services (CRS) Outlet of PSA-Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA-RSSO I), Parammata Bldg., Biday, City of San Fernando, La Union.
PSA-La Union has been actively conducting mobile registration activities in various barangays across the province, bringing PhilSys registration directly to the communities. Among the barangays that have been visited in September during mobile registration were the city/municipalities of the City of San Fernando, Agoo, San Juan, Rosario, and Bacnotan. This approach has been particularly effective in reaching residents who may have difficulty traveling to fixed registration centers.
PSA-La Union has also been conducting the "Rehistro Bulilit" campaign during mobile registration to promote the importance of early National ID registration among children aged 1 to 4. This initiative aims to ensure that all Filipinos, including young children, will have access to the benefits provided by the National ID.
To further disseminate information about PhilSys, Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Danites E. Teñido, PhD, updated the public about the PhilSys through the radio progam, “Ti PSA ken Sika” at DZAG Radyo Pilipinas Agoo. During the program, CSS Teñido discussed the process of obtaining a Digital National ID for PhilSys-registered individuals and informed on PhilSys initiatives in La Union.
For more information about PhilSys, individuals can visit the official PhilSys website at https://philsys.gov.ph/ or the official Facebook page at PSAPhilSysOfficial.
