The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - La Union Provincial Statistical Office, through its Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) team, has registered a total of 680,373 individuals under the PhilSys Step 2 registration as of 31 May 2024.

The PhilSys Step 2 registration includes validating demographic data and capturing biometric information such as fingerprints, iris scan, and front-facing photo.

Successful registrants by city/municipality in La Union since its initial implementation in the first quarter of 2021 is detailed in the table below.

The PSA-La Union PhilSys personnel joined various activities as well as organized a dissemination forum both online and on-site to raise awareness about PhilSys, to continuously inform on PhilSys updates, and to cover unregistered individuals in the province.

In May 2024, PhilSys personnel joined in the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) meetings in Agoo, Rosario, Bangar, Sto. Tomas, and San Gabriel to give updates on PhilSys. Senior Citizens Assembly were also attended to inform them on PhilSys.

Information dissemination on PhilSys were conducted at Pagudpud, City of San Fernando on 24 May 2024; J&V Hotel and Resort, Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union on 27 May 2024; and through video conferencing on 31 May 2024.

Moreover, information dissemination and distribution of Information Education Campaign (IEC) materials were also done during PhilSys mobile registration in various barangays in the province and during the registration and authentication of the electronic PhilSys ID (ePhilID) of all Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) La Union Field Office (LUFO).

During the abovementioned activities, queries and clarifications on PhilSys were also properly addressed to ensure that correct information on PhilSys are provided to the public.

Aside from the mobile registration conducted provincewide for the PhilSys Step 2 registration, PSA-La Union also maintains its PhilSys Fix Registration Center (FRC) situated at Doña Pepita Bldg., Quezon Ave., Brgy. II, City of San Fernando, La Union, and deploys PhilSys personnel at the Civil Registration Services (CRS) Outlet of PSA-Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA-RSSO I), Parammata Bldg., Biday, City of San Fernando, La Union, and at the Robinsons Place, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The valid proof of identity provided by PhilSys shall be a means to streamline public and private transactions while fostering social and economic platforms for enhanced service and financial inclusion.
