In a collaborative effort between the Philippine Statistics Authority-Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA-RSSO I), PSA-La Union Provincial Statistical Office, and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bangar through its Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO), a total of 109 recipients in Bangar, La Union, received their Certificate of Live Birth in Security Paper on 05 April 2024, under the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) at the Municipal Multi-Purpose Hall, Bangar, La Union.
During the activity, the Municipal Mayor of LGU Bangar Hon. Joy P. Merin represented by Municipal Civil Registrar (MCR) Atty. Jake M. Danduan, highlighted in his opening remarks that the event will also mark the launching of the "Officially Me Campaign" of LGU Bangar, aimed at locating and registering unregistered residents for the BRAP in Bangar, La Union. MCR Danduan added that the campaign underscores the commitment of LGU Bangar to reach out to every individual, especially those belonging to the marginalized sectors and residents of their municipality, ensuring that their births are properly registered in the LCRO.
Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Danites E. Teñido,PhD of PSA-La Union also provided a message highlighting the importance of accurate birth registration and the collaborative efforts needed to achieve this goal.
The awarding of birth certificates was led by Atty. Danduan together with the members of the Sangguniang Bayan, Dr. Teñido and staff, and Registration Officer III Mellen Borja of PSA-RSSO I.
The event ended with the recipients of BRAP in LGU Bangar joyfully received their certificate of live birth in Security Paper.
The BRAP, a joint endeavor between the PSA and various LGUs, targets the registration of births within marginalized communities, including Indigenous Peoples (IP), Muslim Filipinos, and the poorest sector registered in the LCRO.
