In a joint effort to bolster the implementation of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) in the province, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office partner with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Regional Welfare Office 1 to facilitate PhilSys institutional registration from 08 January to 29 February 2024 at 2F Kenny Plaza Building, Quezon Avenue, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The primary goal of the PhilSys institutional registration initiative is to ensure that every Filipino citizen, including those currently working or planning to work abroad, possesses a standardized and secure identification system as well as to create a more accessible PhilSys registration for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), government employees, and private individuals who have not yet registered with PhilSys.

Registered individuals will have the added advantage of immediately claiming their electronic PhilSys ID, known as ePhilID, upon completion of the registration process, subject to its availability. The ePhilID, is a proactive strategy of the PSA that allows registered persons to immediately enjoy the benefits of being PhilSys-registered. Similar to the PhilID, the ePhilID is honored and accepted as a valid proof of identity.

To ensure widespread awareness and participation, PhilSys advocacy materials are distributed to clients transacting at the OWWA Regional Welfare Office 1 to inform them on the advantages and importance of PhilSys registration. The materials provide essential information on the registration process, benefits, and the significance of being PhilSys-registered.

The PhilSys, with its emphasis on standardized identification, not only enhances the efficiency of transactions but also reduces the risk of identity-related fraud. This initiative aligns with the government's commitment to providing citizens with a secure and streamlined means of accessing both public and private services
