RD Sheila O. De Guzman enumerates the importance of using CAPI in all surveys of the PSA during the 2nd Quarter 2024 RCSS provincial briefing.

ILOCOS SUR. In preparation to the conduct of the 2nd Quarter 2024 Rice and Corn Stocks Survey (RCSS) enumeration, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Ilocos Sur conducted its provincial briefing at the Conference Hall, 3rd floor, UNP Town Center Tamag, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur on 27 March 2024.

The activity aimed to capacitate the seven Statistical Researchers (SRs) who will be conducting the data collection to the 255 sample households for RCSS Household and 57 sample establishments for RCSS-Commercial using Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) method. The second quarter 2024 RCSS covers April, May and June round with data collection of the first four days of each month.

During the training, Regional Director (RD) Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman enumerated the importance of using the CAPI method and how vital it is since it will be the first time to use CAPI with RCSS. Statistical Analyst (SA) Engr. Joy Y. Lived, Provincial Focal Person, discussed on how to manually operate CAPI method.

The PSA is conducting the RCSS to assess the current rice and corn inventories in sample households and commercial establishments across the country. These data, together with stocks in the commercial and government sectors, will be used by government planners, policymakers, and administrators in formulating economic development plans, policies, and programs. 
Pursuant to Section 25 of RA No. 10625, the National Statistician identified the above-mentioned statistical inquiry or survey to be conducted with obligation to provide information. Considering this, all respondents whether natural or legal persons shall be liable to reply statistical inquiry or survey. The respondents are also required to give truthful and complete answers to the said statistical inquiry or surveys of the PSA and other statistical offices of the Philippine Statistical System.
