VIGAN CITY, ILOCOS SUR. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Ilocos Sur conducted an online training titled Training on Infographics for Vital Statistics on 27 February 2025. The training was attended by 38 participants from the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) in the province and members of the Sub-National Inter-Agency Committee on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (IACCRVS). This is in line with the month-long celebration of the 35th Civil Registration Month (CRM) in the province.

On behalf of the Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) of PSO Ilocos Sur, Jeanette M. Marzan, Supervising Statistical Specialist (SSS) John Michael S. Sarabia delivered the welcome remarks by acknowledging the participants in attending the training. He also encouraged them to actively participate by asking questions or sharing experiences related to the topics to be discussed. Furthermore, SSS Sarabia expressed his hope that, by the end of the training, everyone would have acquired sufficient knowledge and utilized it in performing their task in their respective offices.

The highlights of the training included the discussion of Data Visualization Using Infographics by SSS Sarabia, followed by a presentation of Visualizing Vital Statistics: An Infographic Guide by Statistical Analyst (SA) Anamarie F. Rapanut, and then, a demonstrative presentation of Canva by SA Bernard Philip D. Fernandez. Lastly, the participants were tested to make their own infographics using the vital statistics data available on the PSA website. 

Registration Officer II Mary Claire U. Ragasa, wrapped up the event with her closing remarks as she mentioned that she is anticipating that every participating LCROs and members of IACCRVS can use the knowledge imparted by the trainers to improve their respective work in their office.

This year’s CRM celebration bears the theme “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System” which underscores the PSA’s commitment to ensuring a responsive statistical system that supports the needs of citizens.
