
VIGAN CITY, ILOCOS SUR. In celebration of 2025 National Women’s Month and Fire Prevention Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Ilocos Sur successfully conducted a Bomb Threat Training for PSA Employees at the Provincial Statistical Office of Ilocos Sur, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur on 14 March 2025. The training aimed to equip employees with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively in the event of a bomb threat and ensure a safe and secure working environment. A total of 40 PSA employees participated in the training, gaining learning experience that would enhance the employees’ ability to act quickly and calmly under pressure for handling bomb threats effectively.
PLDS- Statistical Analyst (SA) Krishyla Marie P. Flores began the training by acknowledging the presence of the resource persons and staff present on the training. The training officially commenced with welcome remarks delivered by Senior Statistical Specialist (SrSS) Melchor S. Bautista. This was followed by a message from the Ilocos Sur Provincial Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Canine Unit (PECU), Police Chief Master Sergeant (PCMS) Eugene Q. Ubilas Jr., emphasizing the importance of vigilance and preparedness in the workplace, especially for women and employees who may face unique challenges during emergencies. The training was led by experts from the Ilocos Sur PECU, who facilitated interactive discussions. Police Master Sergeant (PMSg) Willmer Mariano R. Reotita discussed on topics such as identifying bomb threats, emergency response protocols, and statistics on bomb threats in the Philippines. In addition, topics such as communication procedures during a threat, and evacuation strategies were discussed by PMSg Loumar Q. Quiñola. After the informative discussions, participants raised their questions and shared insights during the open forum pertaining to the topics presented.
The training was officially closed with a heartfelt message from Statistical Analyst (SA) Joy Y. Lived, who expressed his gratitude to the resource speakers and participants for their active involvement on the training. SA Lived also highlighted PSA’s commitment to providing the public with accurate, reliable, and timely statistical data while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for its employees.
This initiative is part of PSA Ilocos Sur’s ongoing efforts to empowering PSA employees through both gender equality and safety measures. The Bomb Threat Training is an important step in creating a safe and secure environment where all employees, regardless of gender, can work with confidence and peace of mind.
