The volume of palay production in Pangasinan for the year 2024 reached 1,213,670 metric tons, with irrigated palay contributing the larger share at 841,488 metric tons, compared to rainfed palay production at 372,182 metric tons. (Table 1)

Volume of palay production in the province fluctuated across quarters, with the highest yield recorded in Quarter 4 at 765,844 metric tons, followed by Quarter 1 with 226,320 metric tons and Quarter 2 with 122,596 metric tons. In contrast, Quarter 3 had the lowest production at 98,910 metric tons. Notably, rainfed palay production was concentrated in Quarters 3 and 4, with the majority of it coming from the latter. The data highlights the seasonality of palay production in Pangasinan, where the highest output typically occurs towards the end of the year likely influenced by irrigation availability and climatic conditions.
On the other hand, volume of corn production in Pangasinan for the year 2024 was 369,102 metric tons, with yellow corn contributing the larger share at 357,666 metric tons in comparison with white corn production at 11,436 metric tons. (Table 2)

Production was highest in Quarter 1 with 244,504 metric tons, followed by a decline in Quarter 2 with 117,784 metric tons. The output further dropped significantly in Quarter 3 with 3,384 metric tons and Quarter 4 with 3,430 metric tons. The data highlights the dominance of yellow corn in Pangasinan’s overall production and suggests that corn harvesting is primarily concentrated in the first half of the year, particularly in Quarter 1.
Meanwhile, the total area harvested for all palay in Pangasinan reached 256,212 hectares for the year 2024, with irrigated palay covering 173,641 hectares and rainfed palay with 82,571 hectares. (Table 3)

The largest area harvested was recorded in Quarter 4, with 163,650_hectares, while the smallest was in Quarter 3 with only 20,537 hectares. Irrigated palay was consistently harvested throughout the year, while rainfed palay was only harvested in Quarters 3 and 4, with the majority occurring in the latter. The data indicated that most of the rice harvesting in Pangasinan takes place towards the end of the year, particularly in Quarter 4.
On the other hand, the area harvested of corn production for the year 2024 reached 59,745 hectares, with yellow corn covering the majority at 56,896 hectares, while white corn with only 2,849 hectares. (Table 4)

The largest harvested area was recorded in Quarter 1, with 38,684 hectares, followed by Quarter 2 with 19,679 hectares. In contrast, the harvested area significantly dropped in Quarters 3 and 4, with 660 and 722 hectares, respectively. The trend indicates that corn harvesting in Pangasinan is concentrated in the first half of the year, particularly in Quarter 1.
The yield of palay and corn per hectare in the province varies by ecosystem/croptype, and by the total volume and area harvested. In Pangasinan, the total average palay yield reached 4.74 metric tons per hectare in the year 2024, with the highest yield of 4.88 metric tons per hectare in Quarter 1. (Table 5)

Irrigated palay consistently shows higher yield across the quarters, peaking at 4.99 metric tons per hectare in Quarter 3 and achieves a total average of 4.85 metric tons per hectare. In contrast. Rainfed palay is harvested only in Quarters 3 and 4, with yields of 4.24 and 4.52 metric tons per hectare, respectively, resulting in a total average of 4.51 metric tons per hectare.
Meanwhile, the overall average corn yield recorded 6.18 metric tons per hectare, with the highest record in Quarter 1 with 6.32 metric tons per hectare and a gradual decline towards Quarter 4 with 4.75 metric tons per hectare. (Table 6)

Yellow corn consistently achieves higher yields, averaging 6.29 metric tons per hectare, with its peak in Quarter 1 and the lowest yield in Quarter 3. On the other hand, white corn has significantly lower yields, averaging 4.01 metric tons per hectare, with minimal variation across quarters. The yield for white corn is highest in Quarters 1 and 3 but drops to 3.66 metric tons per hectare in Quarter 4.
