The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Pangasinan Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) headed by Chief Statistical Specialist Edgar M. Norberte, collaborated with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and PhilHealth to conduct an orientation on Fire Prevention tips cum Breast Cancer Awareness programme on 21 March 2025. The activity was made in connection with the Gender and Development (GAD) principles.

The activity commenced with an opening message and overview of activities from GAD Focal Person Ma. Kristel A. Tesoro, followed by a Fire Safety orientation by Fire Officer II Carlo D. Gonzales and Fire Officer III Randy R. Llavore from the Bureau of Fire Protection - Calasiao, this is in relation with the 2025 Fire Prevention Month with the theme, “Sa pag-iwas sa sunog, hindi ka nag-iisa!”.

In the afternoon session, participants watched video presentations regarding breast cancer and its symptoms. Dr. Victoria Carreon-Caliwag PhilHealth Medical Specialist III presented the PhilHealth Z Benefits to address Breast Cancer.

A booth designated for women to disseminate information about Gender and Development was set-up to encourage interaction and engagement with the participants. In celebration of the 2025 National Women’s Month with the theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas”, a short video featuring the women of PSA Pangasinan was presented to the participants.

The purpose of the event is to promote gender equality, recognizing women and men as equal partners in development, and promoting rights and full potential.
