The 2021 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) final results revealed that in the Ilocos Region, there were 39 registered establishments and 873 employees in the Mining and Quarrying sector. This indicates that, on the average there were at least 22 employees per establishment.

The number of registered establishments increased by 34.5 percent from 29 in 2020. Meanwhile, the number of employees under Mining and Quarrying increased by 18.3 percent from 738 in 2020 to 873 in 2021.

In 2021, the total paid employees of Mining and Quarrying sector in the Ilocos Region were recorded at 863 workers, 98.9 percent of the total employment. This record was higher by 18.7 percent compared to the 727 paid employees in 2020.

In Ilocos Region, the total expense for the Mining and Quarrying sector was recorded at 1.3 billion in 2021, lower than the 1.1 billion incurred in 2020. Other expenses in 2021, reached 1.16 million.

Meanwhile, the total revenue generated in Mining and Quarrying sector increased by 48.6 percent from 950.1 million in 2020 to PhP 1.4 billion in 2021.

With the total compensation recorded in the region was at PhP 118.03 million in 2021, an increase of 54.0 percent from PhP 76.66 million in 2020.

The average annual compensation paid per employee in the Ilocos Region for the Mining and Quarrying sector was recorded at 136.77 thousand in 2021. This translated to a revenue per expense ratio of 1.10 which means that there is a 0.10 revenue per peso expense. The value is 29.7 percent higher than 2020 which recorded 105.44 thousand average annual compensation per paid employee.
