The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - La Union Provincial Statistical Office, through its Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) team, has successfully registered 701,370 individuals under the PhilSys Step 2 registration as of 31 October 2024.
Step 2 registration involves verifying demographic data and capturing biometric information such as fingerprints, iris scan, and front-facing photo.
A detailed breakdown of the number of registered individuals by city/municipality in La Union since its initial implementation in the first quarter of 2021 is presented in the table below.
The PhilSys La Union team has successfully registered a significant number of individuals for the PhilSys, also known as the National ID. This achievement is a result of their ongoing efforts, which include the conduct of mobile registration that brings registration directly to the community in various barangays in the province. Among the barangays visited in October were the City of San Fernando, Aringay, Bacnotan, Bauang, Caba, and San Gabriel.
To make PhilSys registration more accessible, the PSA-La Union continuously operates its Fix Registration Center situated at Doña Pepita Bldg., Quezon Ave., Brgy. II, City of San Fernando, La Union. This center allows residents to register, inquire about PhilSys, and even update their National ID information if there are any errors. PSA-La Union has also stationed personnel at the Civil Registration Services (CRS) Outlet of PSA-Regional Statistical Services Office I.
Moreover, PSA-La Union has been conducting the "Rehistro Bulilit" campaign during mobile registration to promote the importance of registering children aged 1 to 4 for National ID. This initiative ensures all Filipinos benefit from the system from a young age.
To further promote PhilSys awareness and facilitate registration, PSA-La Union has actively engaged with the public through various channels. Radio programs have been utilized to disseminate information and address common queries. Additionally, informative symposia were conducted in schools during the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) to educate students and faculty about the benefits and registration process of the National ID. Through these initiatives, PSA-La Union aims to ensure that all residents of La Union are well-informed and registered to the PhilSys.
