PSA Pangasinan conducts the Dissemination Forum on the 2023 Provincial Product Accounts

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Pangasinan Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) conducted the Dissemination Forum on the 2023 Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) for the province of Pangasinan on 11 December 2024 in Binmaley, Pangasinan. This year’s forum marked the second conduct of the PPA dissemination forum by the PSO, following the pilot implementation of the PPA in Ilocos Region last year.

 

A total of 82 attendees participated in the forum, including stakeholders representing National Line Agencies, Provincial Line Agencies, Provincial Government Offices of Pangasinan, Local Government Units, the media, and the academe. Also in attendance were PSA personnel from the Central Office – Macroeconomic Accounts Service (MAS), represented by Ms. Elgie A. Gulane-Rosenblad, Officer-in-Charge of the Subnational Economic Accounts Division (SEAD), and Ms. Jahyah N. Asequia, Statistical Analyst of MAS-SEAD, as well as personnel from the Regional Statistical Services Office I (RSSO I) and PSO Pangasinan. The event was spearheaded by the PSO Pangasinan PPA team.

 

 

The Regional Director of PSA RSSO I, Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman, formally opened the program through a welcome message delivered by Mr. Michael Ollero, PSA RSSO I Statistical Analyst – COSW. In her message, she highlighted how the compilation of the PPA reveals a broad, interesting story and a comprehensive picture of Pangasinan’s economy, illustrating its progress compared to the previous year. She also noted how the province's performance compared to the overall performance of the region.

 

A special message from the National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, was delivered by Ms. Elgie A. Gulane-Rosenblad, Officer-in-Charge of the PSA MAS-SEAD. Usec. Mapa's message accentuated the successful release of the PPA for all 82 provinces and 33 Highly Urbanized Cities (HUCs) across the country, underscoring this achievement as a testament to PSA’s commitment to generating and providing every province and HUC with the economic data essential for informed decision-making.

 

The forum's highlight was the presentation of the 2023 Economic Performance of Pangasinan, delivered by Chief Statistical Specialist Edgar M. Norberte of PSA Pangasinan. This was followed by a statement from the Officer-in-Charge of the Pangasinan Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), Engr. Rowena V. Ignacio, who emphasized the province's accomplishments in 2023 and 2024.

 

 

Additionally, the Local Government Unit of Bolinao received the Outstanding PPA Data Source Award in recognition of its exceptional commitment and exemplary compliance in providing data for the PPA, particularly in terms of timeliness, completeness, high-quality data, and cooperation.

 

 

To conclude the program, Mr. Xavier B. Narvas, Statistical Specialist II of PSA Pangasinan, delivered the closing remarks. He expressed gratitude to all the distinguished speakers, experts, and participants for their attendance and valuable contributions to the PPA compilation.
