Highlights of Mango Production Ilocos Region, 2022

In 2022, Ilocos Region’s mango production was estimated at 166.032.30 metric tons. This was lower by 3.73 percent from the recorded production in 2021 of 172,469.08 metric tons.

The Ilocos Region was the top producing region on mango production in the country, sharing 23.30 percent of the total national production of 712,553.17 metric tons in 2022.

By Province

Production decreases were noted in Ilocos Norte, La Union, and Pangasinan. In Ilocos Norte, the recorded mango production in 2022 was 22,888.12 metric tons, a decrease of 2,311.38 metric tons from the 2021 production of 25,199.50 metric tons. La Union’s mango production decreased to 13,670.34 metric tons from the production of 14,324.32 metric tons in 2021. Furthermore, mango production in Pangasinan went down to 117,494.46 metric tons from the recorded output of 122,420.70 metric tons in 2021. Though the mango production in Pangasinan decreased, bulk of the regional output was from the province with share of 77.77 percent.

Meanwhile, Ilocos Sur marked an increase of 1,454.80 metric tons from the production of 10,524.57 metric tons in 2021 to 11,979.37 metric tons in 2022.

By Variety

Looking at Figure 3, all varieties of mango registered decreases in production. Mango carabao decreased by 5,517.51 metric tons from the production of 138,469.99 metric tons in 2021 to 132,952.48 metric tons in 2022. Meanwhile, the reported production of mango others in 2021 of 31,818.29 metric tons decreased by 823.89 metric tons, obtaining a production of 30,994.40 metric tons in 2022. As for the production of mango piko, it decreased by 95.38 metric tons from 2,180.80 metric tons in 2021 to 2,085.48 metric tons in 2022.
