Pangasinan Records 13,626 Registered Marriages in 2023

In 2023, the Philippines recorded a total of 414,213 registered marriages, a decline from 449,428 marriages in 2022. Meanwhile, the Ilocos Region registered 23,501 marriages, compared to 24,605 marriages in 2022. In Pangasinan, a total of 13,626 marriages were registered in 2023, compared to 14,159 in 2022. (Table 1)

Pangasinan reported the highest number of registered marriages in Ilocos Region

Pangasinan reported the highest number of registered marriages in the Ilocos Region, with 13,626 marriages, accounting for 58.0 percent of the total from January to December 2023. In contrast, Ilocos Norte recorded the fewest, with 2,890 marriages representing 12.3 percent of the regional total. (Figure 1)

February recorded the highest registered marriages in Pangasinan

In 2022, the month of December posted the highest number of registered marriages in Pangasinan, with a total of 2,331 marriages, making up a significant portion of the province's overall total of 14,159 marriages for the year. On the other hand, September recorded the fewest marriages, with only 580 registrations, representing the lowest monthly total for the same year. In contrast, 2023 experienced a shift in the months with the highest and lowest number of marriages. February emerged as the month with the highest number of registered marriages, with 2,202 marriages out of the total 13,626 registered in the province that year. August, however, recorded the lowest number of marriages for the year, with just 527 registrations, highlighting a noticeable dip in marriage registrations during this particular month. (Figure 2)

City of San Carlos reported the highest registered marriages in the province

City of San Carlos had the highest number of registered marriages in Pangasinan, recording 1,079 marriages, which represented the 7.9 percent of the total. On the other hand, municipality of Santo Tomas had the lowest number, with just 41 marriages or 0.3 percent. (Table 2)
