ILOCOS SUR. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Ilocos Sur Provincial Statistical Office (ISPSO), in partnership with the Ilocos Sur Association of Civil Registrars (ISACR), conducted the 34th Civil Registration Month (CRM) Quiz Bee for Local Civil Registrars (LCRs) on 08 February 2024 in the PSA-Ilocos Sur Conference Room, 3/F UNP Town Center, Tamag, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

Twelve LCRs from the city of Vigan and the municipalities of Magsingal, Sugpon, Santa Catalina, Bantay, Santiago, Banayoyo, Cervantes, Burgos, Tagudin, Santa, and Narvacan participated in the contest. The contest was composed of three rounds with ten questions for each round. Registration Officer I Elcid T. Javar, and Statistical Specialist II Karen F. Tamayo, served as the quizmasters for the activity.

Municipal Civil Registrar (MCR) Roxan V. Galolo of the municipality of Santiago, Ilocos Sur, was lauded as the champion of the contest. MCR Attorney Marc Rodney B. Pintor of the municipality of Santa, Ilocos Sur, on the other hand, was hailed as the first runner-up, with MCR Amie B. Dela Cruz of the municipality of Burgos, Ilocos Sur, following as the second runner-up.

The top three winners of the contest will represent the province of Ilocos Sur in the Regional Contest to be conducted in San Fernando, La Union on 20 February 2024.

The theme for this year’s CRM celebration is “CRVS: The Future of Seamless Services”. This is in connection with PSA's drive to implement strategies to improve birth, marriage, and death registration using the latest state-of-the-art technologies to deliver quality civil registration products and services, generate and disseminate accurate and quality vital statistics.

February of every year is Civil Registration Month, pursuant to Proclamation No. 682 issued on 28 January 1991, by President Corazon C. Aquino, to remind Filipinos of their duty to register vital events in their life such as births, marriages, and deaths, as well as decrees, legal instruments, and judicial orders affecting their civil status.
