ILOCOS SUR. The 34th Civil Registration Month (CRM) in Ilocos Sur kicked off on 01 February 2024 through an Opening Ceremony at the Third Floor, UNP Town Center, Tamag, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

Prior to the conduct of the 34th CRM Opening Ceremony, a motorcade was done within Metro Vigan led by mobile patrol of the Philippine National Police (PNP), followed by the employees of PSA-Ilocos Sur and members of the Ilocos Sur Association of Civil Registrars (ISACR) and their staff members on the same day. This was participated by the local government units and policemen of Ilocos Sur. The participants assembled at 8:00 AM and started the Motorcade at exactly 8:30 AM. They toured through the roads of the City of Vigan and Municipalities of Bantay, San Vicente, Santa Catalina, and Caoayan.

The highlights of the Opening Ceremony include presentation of 34th CRM Activities and Data Dissemination Forum on 2022 Vital Statistics of Ilocos Sur, Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) Updates, and PhilSys Updates.

Statistical Analyst Engr. Joy Y. Lived discussed the 2022 Birth Statistics in which he was followed by Statistical Specialist II Engr. Dante D. Dacquel for the Marriage Statistics. He was then followed by BRAP Coordinator John Roy Q. Pablico with the Birth Registration Assistance Project Updates and PhilSys Focal Person Gian Carlo A. Fernando for the PhilSys Updates.

After the Data Dissemination Forum, Registration Officer I Reynante B. Bautista shared a message on behalf of Regional Director Attorney Sheila O. De Guzman, CPA. He also briefly discussed Updates on Decentralized Copy Annotation Process (DeCAP) of Ilocos Region and Ilocos Sur and presented best practices of the province.

Different activities will be conducted for the month-long celebration of the 34th CRM which include posting of streamers in different cities/municipalities, CRVS 201 Trainings for Solemnizing Officers, Attendance to Mass Weddings, conduct of Social Responsibilities, Mobile Registrations, Awarding of Certificate of Live Births, Free Issuance of Civil Registry Documents, and 34th CRM Contests.

The theme for this year’s CRM celebration is “CRVS: The Future of Seamless Services”. This is in connection with PSA's drive to implement strategies to improve birth, marriage, and death registration using the latest state-of-the-art technologies to deliver quality civil registration products and services, generate and disseminate accurate and quality vital statistics.

February of every year is Civil Registration Month, pursuant to Proclamation No. 682 issued on January 28, 1991, by President Corazon C. Aquino, to remind Filipinos of their duty to register vital events in their life such as births, marriages, and deaths, as well as decrees, legal instruments, and judicial orders affecting their civil status.
