The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - La Union Provincial Statistical Office, through its Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) team, has successfully registered a total of 691,016 individuals registered under the PhilSys under Step 2 registration as of 31 July 2024.
Step 2 registration process involves verifying demographic data and capturing biometric information such as fingerprints, iris scan, and front-facing photo.
A detailed breakdown of the number of registered individuals by city/municipality in La Union since its initial implementation in the first quarter of 2021 is presented in the table below.
The PSA-La Union has implemented various strategies to cover PhilSys-unregistered residents of the province of La Union. These included the conduct of mobile registration activities in different barangays and collaboration with institutions to facilitate PhilSys institutional registration.
To make PhilSys registration more accessible, the PSA-La Union continuously operates its Fix Registration Center situated at Doña Pepita Bldg., Quezon Ave., Brgy. II, City of San Fernando, La Union, and deploys PhilSys personnel at the Civil Registration Services (CRS) Outlet of PSA-Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA-RSSO I), Parammata Bldg., Biday, City of San Fernando, La Union. Additionally, the PSA-La Union has also continuously deployed PhilSys on-site registration at the DSWD Field Office I at Quezon Avenue, City of San Fernando, La Union every Monday to allow clients seeking assistance through DSWD programs to complete their PhilSys registration alongside their application processes.
To increase public awareness about PhilSys, the PSA-La Union conducted information campaigns during mobile registration and participated in barangay meetings. The agency also utilized media platforms, such as radio, to disseminate information about the National ID, including details in obtaining a Digital National ID for PhilSys-registered individuals.
The PhilSys is designed to streamline transactions and improve access to government and private services.
