As of 31 March 2024, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has successfully delivered a total of 551,008 Philippine Identification (PhilID) cards in La Union.
Complementing the PHLPost’s PhilID delivery achievement, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - La Union Provincial Statistical Office, through its PhilSys team, has also issued a total of 180,277 electronic PhilID (ePhilID) as of 30 April 2024.
Successful PhilID delivery of individuals registered to PhilSys by city/municipality in La Union is detailed in the table below.
The Republic Act No. 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, was signed into law by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on 06 August 2018, that aims to establish a single national identification system for all citizens and resident aliens of the Republic of the Philippines. The PhilID is an identification card that can be used by Filipino citizens and resident aliens in the Philippines as valid proof of identity for public and private transactions.
The ePhilID is a proactive strategy of the PSA that has the same functionality and validity as the physical card, allowing more Filipinos to immediately enjoy the benefits of being PhilSys-registered while waiting for their PhilID to be delivered to their preferred delivery address during PhilSys registration.
Individuals who have completed the PhilSys registration process can verify their eligibility to claim their ePhilID by visiting https://appt.philsys.gov.ph and providing their transaction reference number (TRN), obtainable from the transaction slip issued during Step 2 Registration. For lost transaction slips, registered individuals may request the retrieval of their TRN.
The PSA assures that there is a card allocated to all registered persons under the PhilSys and that they will still receive their PhilID cards even if they have claimed their printed ePhilIDs.
The achievement of distributing and issuing over half a million PhilIDs and ePhilIDs in La Union is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for card production, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) for door-to-door delivery, and the PSA as the lead implementer of the PhilSys.
