The Ilocos Region’s banana production in 2022 was 46,547.61 metric tons, an increase of 4.81 percent from the production in 2021 of 44,411.05 metric tons. (Figure 1 and Table 1)
The region shared 0.52 percent to the national production of 9,013,288.54 metric tons.
By Province
All provinces in the region registered production increases in 2022. The highest producer in the region was Pangasinan with an output of 16,228.32 metric tons, which contributed 34.87 percent to the regional output. This was followed by Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union with shares of 24.94 percent (11,609.10 metric tons), 22.94 percent (10,679.93 metric tons), and 17.25 percent (8,030.27 metric tons), respectively. By Variety
Banana saba rec-rded the highest pr-ducti-n -f 24,045.00 metric t-ns, representing 51.66 percent -f the t-tal pr-ducti-n in Il-c-s Regi-n. This was f-ll-wed by banana latundan with a share -f 34.96 percent equivalent t-16,273.06 metric t-ns, -ther banana varieties, and banana bungulan with a share -f 8.12 percent -r 3,780.44 metric t-ns and 3.79 percent -r 1,765.07 metric t-ns, respectively. Meanwhile, banana lakatan had the least c-ntributi-n -f 1.47 percent -r 684.04 metric t-ns.
