The Agricultural Accounts Division of the Macroeconomic Accounts Service (AAD-MAS), in partnership with the Regional Statistical Services Office I (RSSO I), spearheaded the Provincial Consultation Workshop with Stakeholders in the Agriculture and Fishery Sectors as Input in the Compilation of Provincial Product Accounts (PPAs) at San Fernando City, La Union on 22 February 2023.

The activity aims to provide an overview of the valuation of production in agriculture and fisheries, solicit inputs on the identification of commodities highlighted in each province, identify the issues and concerns related to agricultural statistics, and provide recommendations on how to address them.

Regional Directory Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman of RSSO I expressed her gratitude to the staff from AAD-MAS for spearheading the activity.
She encouraged the stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions and provide valuable inputs during the consultation workshop.

In her message, Assistant National Statistician Vivian R. Ilarina of MAS also announced that the four provinces in the region will take part in the compilation of the PPAs this year. She added that the PPA results will be released in December.

Stakeholders were apprised about the PPA and the Overview of the
Value of Production in Agriculture and Fisheries in the Ilocos Region. During the workshop proper, participants were grouped by province to discuss top and emerging agriculture commodities in their respectibe provinces. The presentation of output per group followed.

The RSSO I and AAD-MAS personnel conducted field visits to selected agricultural farms and processing/manufacturing establishments in Pangasinan a day after the consultation workshop. The field visits were done to validate and update current assumptions and parameters being used in the valuation of production in agriculture and fisheries
and Supply Utilization Accounts/Food Balance Sheet (SUA/FBS).
