The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - La Union Provincial Statistical Office kicked off the celebration of the 34^th Civil Registration Month (CRM) in the province of La Union through a ceremonial ribbon-cutting of the 34^th CRM Provincial Exhibit and Information Desk situated at the PhilSys Fix Registration Center, Dona Pepita Bldg., Barangay II, City of San Fernando, La Union, on 05 February 2024.

The ceremonial ribbon-cutting was followed by a motorcade around the City of San Fernando, La Union in coordination with the City Government of San Fernando, Office of Public Safety and Security (OPSS) and La Union Police Provincial Office.

The motorcade, which aimed to increase public awareness of the annual celebration of the CRM, was spearheaded by Dr. Danites E. Teñido, Chief Statistical Special (CSS) of PSA-La Union, Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman, Regional Director of PSA-Regional Statistical Services Office I (RSSO I), and Municipal Civil Registrar (MCR) Laida G. Rico, President of the La Union Civil Registrars Association (LUCRA). Also joining the motorcade were Chief Administrative Officer Camille Carla U. Beltran of the Civil Registration and Administrative Division and Officer-in-Charge Teresa B. Olarte of the Statistical Operations and Coordination Division, PSA – La Union and PSA – RSSO I personnel, and the City/Municipal Civil Registrars (C/MCRs) of the province together with their staff.

The celebration of the CRM in February of every year is pursuant to Proclamation No. 682 signed by former President Corazon C. Aquino on 28 January 1991. The annual celebration aims to remind Filipinos of their duty to register acts and events concerning the status of persons and to enhance nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative, and statistical values of civil registry documents.

This year’s CRM celebration adopts the theme, “CRVS: The Future of Seamless Services.”
