The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office carries out the 4th Quarter 2024 Fisheries Surveys in the province from 11 to 22 November 2024. These include the Quarterly Aquaculture Survey (QAqS) and Quarterly Inland Municipal Survey (QIFS).

The surveys aim to collect data on the volume and value of aquaculture and inland fisheries production, classified by aquafarm type and species. The statistics that will be generated from these surveys will contribute to the compilation of national accounts, evaluation of agricultural performance, policy making and program implementation, as well as support to research studies.

For this purpose, PSA-La Union hired and trained six Statistical Researchers (SRs) to revisit 238 sample aquafarm operators, along with two SRs who will survey 85 inland fishing households. These activities are being conducted in coordination with the Local Government Units (LGUs).

All information obtained from the respondents will be kept strictly confidential. Under Section 26 of Republic Act (RA) No. 10625, “Individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses conducted by the PSA shall be considered privilege communication and shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.”
