ILOCOS SUR. Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)—Ilocos Sur Provincial Statistical Office (ISPSO) further strengthened the importance of civil registration when some personnel attended mass weddings in five municipalities in Ilocos Sur, namely Salcedo, Burgos, Santo Domingo, and San Ildefonso on 14 February 2024 and Magsingal on 17 February 2024.

Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Jeanette M. Marzan and Job Order Worker (JOW) Ms. April Uenice G. Quiocho attended the mass wedding in Salcedo, Ilocos Sur, where 14 couples tied the knot on Valentine’s Day. In CSS Marzan's message, she stressed the importance of the presence of civil registry documents as they are one of the primary necessities in processing government transactions and prove one’s citizenship.

Statistical Specialist II (SS II) Engr. Dante D. Dacquel and Statistical Analyst (SA) Engr. Truman T. Tesoro, on the other hand, attended the mass wedding of 21 couples conducted in Burgos, Ilocos Sur on 14 February 2024. In Engr. Dacquel’s speech, he emphasized the importance of family ties in imposing the destination of the marriage.

Meanwhile, Administrative Officer I (AO I) Mary Claire U. Ragasa and Administrative Aide VI (AA VI) Bonnie R. Ubilas attended the matrimony of 14 couples in Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur on 14 February 2024. AO I Ragasa delivered her speech, in which she reminded the couples that marriage is a life-long commitment and that it is about repeatedly falling in love with the same person.

SS II Lovelynn R. Romerosa and SA Engr. Joy Y. Lived attended the mass wedding in San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur. SA Engr. Lived enumerated things that the couples should remember in their marital journey: communication, trust, and commitment.

Lastly, AO I Kathrina Angela U. Ines and Administrative Assistant II (AA II) Gilda Joy P. Savellano attended the mass wedding in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur. AA II Savellano advised the couples of the hardships that will come and reminded them that they should overcome these difficulties for their future.

The theme for this year’s CRM celebration is “CRVS: The Future of Seamless Services”. This is in connection with PSA's drive to implement strategies to improve birth, marriage, and death registration using the latest state-of-the-art technologies to deliver quality civil registration products and services, generate and disseminate accurate and quality vital statistics.

February of every year is Civil Registration Month, pursuant to Proclamation No. 682 issued on 28 January 1991, by President Corazon C. Aquino, to remind Filipinos of their duty to register vital events in their life such as births, marriages, and deaths, as well as decrees, legal instruments, and judicial orders affecting their civil status.
