ILOCOS SUR. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Ilocos Sur participated the celebration of the 2024 International Women’s Day Celebration through the free issuance of birth and marriage certificate and the conduct of mini fun games at PSA-Ilocos Sur, Vigan City on 08 March 2024.
The Vigan City CRS outlet issued free birth or marriage certificates to the first 50 transacting women, including free consultation about concerns on civil registration services. The crowd also charged up by having a pop quiz and winners were given a token for their participation.
In the afternoon, the office initiated a mini fun games and raffle that were participated by all the staff including Contract of Service Workers (COSW’s). This activity aimed to foster team spirit and create a more enjoyable and interactive atmosphere for everyone in the office. Such initiatives not only contributed to a positive work environment but it also strengthened the bond among the staff and served as a reminder that enhancing productivity and collaboration within the organization is important.
The theme for this year’s Women’s Month Celebration is “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan". This just shows that women can make a significant sacrifices in providing care that enriches our lives in countless ways. Acknowledging their resilience and perseverance is not just a gesture of gratitude but a vital step toward building a more equitable world.
March of every year is considered as Women’s Month Celebration, pursuant to R.A. 6949 s. 1990, “An Act to Declare March 8 of Every Year as a Working Special Holiday to be known as National Women's Day” was signed by President Aquino on April 10, 1990, reminding everyone that women have always played a crucial role in shaping societies, and their efforts and changes have been instrumental in driving progress across various fields.
