
VIGAN CITY, ILOCOS SUR. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Ilocos Sur virtually facilitated a Data Dissemination Forum on Vital and Agriculture Statistics on 26 February 2025. The forum was attended by 45 participants from the different Local Government Units (LGUs) of Ilocos Sur, specifically representatives from the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) and City/Municipal Agriculture Offices (C/MAOs), and members of the Sub-National Inter-Agency Committee on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (IACCRVS).
On behalf of the Chief Statistical Specialist of PSO Ilocos Sur, Jeanette M. Marzan, Statistical Specialist II Love Lynn R. Romerosa delivered the welcome remarks by emphasizing the importance of timely and accurate statistics in shaping policies, strengthening governance, and ensuring responsive interventions by equipping our local civil registrars and municipal agricultural officers with reliable data within their field of expertise.
Registration Officer (RO) I Elcid T. Javar, discussed the 2023 Vital Statistics for Ilocos Sur, which comprised of Birth Statistics, Marriage Statistics, and Death Statistics. After which, Senior Statistical Specialist (SrSS) Melchor S. Bautista presented the Crops Statistics and Fishery Statistics in Region I, including the 2024 palay and corn production, 2024 first semester high-value crops volume of production, and the 2024 fisheries production in the province. Lastly, Statistical Analyst (SA) Mariz Angela P. Adviento presented the production on a live-weight basis of fourth-quarter 2024 Livestock and Poultry Statistics for Ilocos Sur and Region I.
The activity was concluded by SrSS Melchor S. Bautista, with his closing message, in which he thanked everyone who participated in the forum and expressed his hope for continued support from partner agencies in future activities of the PSA to ensure success.
The activity is in line with the celebration of 35th Civil Registration Month (CRM) in the province. This year’s CRM celebration bears the theme “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System” which underscores the PSA’s commitment to ensuring a responsive statistical system that supports the needs of citizens.
