The Province of La Union was hailed as the Best Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) in Ilocos Region, a testament to its unwavering dedication to statistical excellence.

The award was given during the Regional Closing Ceremony of the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) held on 29 October 2024 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Conference Hall, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The PSC serves as the provincial counterpart of the Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Board and is the highest policymaking body on statistical matters at the provincial level. One of its functions is to formulate statistical policies designed to resolve local statistical issues and recommend a workable scheme for improving provincial-level statistics to the government entities at the provincial level.

La Union outperformed all three provinces in the region in the evaluation conducted by the RSC covering the 3rd Quarter of 2023 to the 2nd Quarter of 2024.

The provinces were assessed based on three major criteria namely: the performance of PSCs in statistical policy‐making functions; generation, dissemination, and use of statistics; and the strengthening of statistical institution.
