The 2024 Regional Data Festival - North Luzon Cluster kicked off on 
03 October 2024 in celebration of the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) with the theme: “Advancing Data and Statistics through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation”. The two-day event was held in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. 

 

Schools from the Ilocos Region who participated in the event were Pangasinan State University (PSU), Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), and Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU).

 

Usec. Claire Dennis S. Mapa, the Philippine Statistics Authority National Statistician and Civil Registrar General; Ms. Nerrisa T. Esguerra, the Regional Director of the National Economic and Development Authority Region 3; and Ms. Lourdes P. Nacionales, the Regional Director of the Commission on Population and Development Region 3, served as the Plenary Speakers of the program. Hon. Rolen C. Paulino Jr., the Mayor of the City of Olongapo set out the central theme of the festival as the keynote speaker.

 

Among the highlights of the event were the paper presentations of 
Ms. Kristine Angeli D. Culbengan, a student from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), entitled “Spatiotemporal Crime Prediction in La Union Using Random Forest” , and Mr. Winchester R. Gerez, a Faculty of the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) with his project entitled “Program Recommendation Model for MMSU Students.” 

On the final day of the event, interactive games and challenges were conducted and participants from the Ilocos Region bagged the 1st Place.
