ILOCOS REGION - The Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA-RSSO I) as the Secretariat and Vice Chairperson of the Regional Statistics Committee I (RSC-I) facilitated the conduct of the  RSC-I first quarter  CY 2025 Regular Meeting at the National Economic and Development Authority - Regional Office 1 (NEDA-RO1), City of San Fernando, La Union on 18 March 2025.

Joined by twenty-four (24) RSC-1 members on-site and via video conferencing, NEDA-RO1 Regional Director and RSC-1 Chairperson Stephanie F. Christiansen presided the meeting. 

The members discussed the upcoming RSC Activity – Strengthening Media Reporting of Statistical Data, which aims to empower the RSC-1 members with statistical literacy for enhanced reporting. Moreover, approved through RSC Resolution No. 02 s. 2025 was the Inventory of Statistical Data of Region, created to have a catalog of the statistical data in Region 1.

The meeting also highlighted the presentation on the establishment of a Statistical Hub/Data Hub.  The goal of the Statistical Hub is to gather data from RSC-1 so its members can access and utilize it. Guidelines and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) are to be drafted as a part of the resolution.

The proposed activities for the 36th National Statistics Month (NSM) were also examined, resulting in suggestions from the committee to look for more innovative activities and discuss with the TWG what kind of corporate social responsibility will be conducted on the upcoming NSM celebration.

RSC-1’s first quarter meeting also included the presentation of the 2025 Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS) by PSA-RSSO I Senior Statistical Specialist Mellen M. Borja and the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA), CY 2024 by Department of Interior and Local Government – Regional Office 1’s (DILG-RO1) Maica T. Lacansadile.

The meeting concluded with the first Learning Session about Database Management by PSA-RSSO I Statistical Analyst Michelle Mae J. Esperanza. The members are expected to share their agency's best practices at the next RSC-1 meeting.
