The 2021 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) final results showed that there were 137 registered establishments and 2,822 employees under the Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (AFF) sector in 2021 in the Ilocos Region. This reflects that for every establishment there were at least 21 employees.

The number of registered establishments increased by 25.69 percent from 109 in 2020. Meanwhile, the number of employees under AFF decreased by 2.96 percent from 2,908 in 2020 to 2,822 in 2021.

In 2021, the total paid employees of AFF in the Ilocos Region was recorded at 2,676 workers, 94.83 percent of the total employment. Compared to 2020, paid employees in 2021 declined by 0.41 percent.

The total revenue generated in AFF sector declined by 44.22 percent from 11.67 million in 2020 to PhP 6.51 million in 2021. On the average, an establishment earned at least PhP 2,433 in 2021 and PhP 4,343 in the yearof2020.

The total expense for the AFF sector was recorded at 6.0 billion in 2021. The total compensation paid to employees in the region was at PhP 350.2 million in 2021, a decrease of 47.2 percent from PhP 667.3 million. Other expenses, reached PhP 5.7 billion in 2021, lower than the 9.1 billion in 2020.
 

The average annual compensation paid per employee in the Ilocos Region for the AFF sector was recorded at 130.9 thousand in 2021. This translated to a revenue per expense ratio of 1.08 which means that there is a 0.8 revenue per peso expense. The value is 47.3 percent lower than 2020 which recorded 248.4 thousand average annual compensation per paid employee with a revenue per expense ratio of 1.19.
