The Philippine Statistics Authority will lead the simultaneous conduct of the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) with an objective to update the mid-decade population of the entire Philippines while ensuring the updating of social registries of national government agencies and Local Government Units (LGUs) for evidence-based project development and program implementation.
The national government, through the PSA, will fund the implementation of the POPCEN in all cities and municipalities in the country including the nine cities and 116 municipalities of Region I. The Highly Urbanized Cities, on the other hand, may opt to conduct CBMS to be funded by the LGU.
The 2024 POPCEN-CBMS gathers and produces data on demographic characteristics, such as the size, composition and geographic distribution of the population, socio-economic characteristics, health-related characteristics, characteristics of the buildings and housing units of the households, barangay characteristics, and geospatial location and status of government facilities and government projects.
The scope and coverage of this statistical activity are the households, housing units, and institutional living quarters. Moreover, the homeless, households in temporary shelters (or evacuation centers), and Filipinos residing in Philippine embassies, missions, and consulates abroad will also be enumerated.
The operation will officially start on 15 July to 16 September 2024, with 01 July 2024 (12:01 A.M, Monday) as the reference period.
In line with, the PSA enjoins all households and institutional living quarters to support the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS by providing truthful information.
