ILOCOS REGION. The Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA - RSSO I) conducted the Second Level Training for the January 2024 Labor Force Survey (LFS) and the 2023 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) Visit 2 on 11 to 16 December 2023. Focal Persons from the regional office and the four provinces of the region were gathered at the Regency Hotel, Calasiao, Pangasinan for the 6-day activity.

The LFS involves the collection of data on labor and employment. It also gathers the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the labor force. Meanwhile, the FIES is the country’s main source of data on family income, sources of income, family expenditure including cost and consumption volume. These data are used in determining the income distribution, levels of living, spending patterns, and the degree of income.

The 2023 FIES Visit 2 is the second round of the 2023 FiES operation that is a rider to the January 2024 LFS. It gathers data for the period July 1 to December 31, 2023. While the FIES gathers data on the family’s income and expenditure on a semestral basis, the LFS gathers employment characteristics of the population based on a “past week” reference period.

In line with this endeavor, the PSA enjoins all the sample households to support and participate in both surveys by providing truthful information. Authorized PSA interviewers will visit the sample households to conduct personal interview beginning 08 to 31 January 2024.
