The inflation rate of the Ilocos Region for all income household in February 2025 slowed down to 2.5 percent. This is lower than the recorded rate in January 2025 of 2.9 percent. Inflation rate in February 2024 was posted at 2.0 percent.



The lower inflation rates were observed in the indices of the following commodity groups:
a. Food and non-alcoholic beverages, 3.1 percent;
b. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, 1.5 percent;
c. Clothing and footwear, 3.3 percent;
d. Furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance, 2.2 percent;
e. Transport, -0.4 percent;
f. Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services, 3.9 percent.
On the other hand, higher indices were noted in the following commodity groups:
a. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, 2.4 percent;
b. Health, 2.2 percent;
c. Recreation, sport and culture, 3.5 percent; and
d. Restaurants and accommodation services, 2.5 percent.
Meanwhile, zero percent annual growth were observed in the following commodity groups:
a. Information and communication, -0.1 percent;
b. Education services, 2.9 percent; and
c. Financial services, 0.0 percent.
Furthermore, the following commodity groups were the top three major contributors to the February 2025 overall inflation for all income households:
a. Food and non-alcoholic beverages, 48.2 percent share or 1.21 percentage points;
b. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, 18.7 percent share or 0.47 percentage point; and
c. Restaurants and accommodation services, 13.0 percent share or 0.33 percentage point.

As shown in Table D, the food index of Ilocos Region in February 2025 went down to 3.1 percent from the recorded rate of 4.8 percent in January 2025. In February 2024, the food index was posted at 7.1 percent. The following food groups showed lower inflation rates in February 2025:
a. Rice, -4.1 percent;
b. Corn, 10.6 percent;
c. Flour, Bread and Other Bakery Products, Pasta Products, and Other Cereals, 1.7 percent;
d. Oils and fats (ND), -1.1 percent;
e. Vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas and pulses (ND), 7.4 percent; and
f. Ready-made food and other food products n.e.c. (ND), 5.9 percent.
On the other hand, higher inflation rates were recorded in the following food groups:
a. Meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals (ND), 8.2 percent;
b. Fish and other seafood (ND), 6.4 percent;
c. Milk, other dairy products and eggs (ND), 1.3 percent;
d. Fruits and nuts (ND), 10.2 percent; and
e. Sugar, confectionery and desserts (ND), -0.8 percent.

Among the provinces, Ilocos Sur posted the highest inflation rate at 4.2 percent in February 2025, followed by La Union at 3.0 percent. Pangasinan and Ilocos Norte recorded inflation rates of 2.3 percent and 1.3 percent, respectively.
Compared to their respective levels in February 2024, Ilocos Norte, and Pangasinan recorded lower inflation rates, while Ilocos Sur and La Union recorded higher inflation rates.
