ILOCOS REGION. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), through the Community-Based Statistics Service (CBSS), Regional Statistical Services Office I (RSSO I), and the Provincial Statistical Offices (PSOs) of La Union and Pangasinan, formally turns over local-level data from the results of the 2021 Pilot Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) to officials and employees of the Local Government Units (LGUs) of San Gabriel, La Union and Sual, Pangasinan on 09 to 10 May 2023.

In her welcome message, RSSO I Regional Director (RD) Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman shared that “it is a momentous milestone for Ilocos Region because it is the only region with the most LGUs to have participated in the pilot run of the CBMS.”

Assistant National Statistician (ANS) Kristine Joy S. Briones of the CBSS presented the highlights of the results of the 2021 Pilot CBMS, which included data on peace and security, health, food security, sanitation, education, and employment.

Officials and representatives from both LGUs, Provincial Planning and Development Offices (PPDO), and provincial offices of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) also graced the said event.

The pilot CBMS for LGU of San Gabriel, La Union was funded by the PSA while the LGU of Sual, Pangasinan funded its CBMS implementation from its own LGU budget.

Through the conduct of the CBMS, key development indicators on (a) health, (b) nutrition, (c) housing, (d) water and sanitation, (e) basic education, (f) income, (g) employment, and (h) peace and order at the city/municipality level can be made available for evidence-based local level planning and investment programming. CBMS data, likewise, is intended to provide basis for targeting beneficiaries of various social protection programs of the government, as well to provide inputs to more comprehensive poverty analysis
