The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in collaboration with the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) recently conducted the 2021 Survey on Innovation Activities of Establishments (SIA). This is the third round of survey conducted with 13, 475 sample establishments nationwide.
The conduct of the survey is authorized under Republic Act (RA) 10625 known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which mandated the PSA to prepare and conduct statistical sample surveys on all aspects of socioeconomic life including agriculture, industry, trade, finance, prices and marketing information, income and expenditure, education, health, culture and social situations as well as the government and the political sector for the use of the government and the public (Section 6d).
The 2021 SIA of establishments aims to examine innovative performance of economic actors across all major sectors of the economy, including the extent of the platform economy, and for providing internationally comparable data on innovation that systems-oriented and policy relevant in the Philippine setting.
Pangasinan Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) hired three (3) Statistical Researchers (SRs) who successfully distributed and collected two hundred sixty one (261) sample establishments of the province for the 2021 SIA. Prior to the conduct of the survey, CSS Edgar M. Norberte together with the Provincial Focal Persons/Supervisors, hired Statistical Researchers, Receipt and Control Clerk and Manual Processor attended the Joint 2nd and 3rd Level Training to gain knowledge on the concepts and definitions regarding the conduct of the survey. The training was conducted on December 6-8, 2022 in San Juan, La Union. After the training, preparatory activities such as printing of questionnaires were done in the province. Activities like distribution, collection, field editing and manual processing of questionnaires, field supervision and verification, data entry, structural and consistency edits and encoding of updates were also done during field operation. After thorough verification, data files and processed questionnaires were transmitted to the Central Office on March 19 and 21, 2023, respectively.
PSA Pangasinan extends its grateful appreciation to all sample establishments for their support and cooperation to the 2021 SIA. Rest assured that all information gathered are kept in strict confidentiality and are not used for taxation, investigation, or law enforcement purposes. This is in adherence with the law as stipulated in Section 26 of RA 10625 (Confidentiality of Information) and Section 8 of RA 10173 or the Data Privacy Act.
