Household population comprises 99.82 percent of the total population

  • As of 01 May 2020, San Gabriel, La Union had a total population of 18,943 persons. Of this total, the household population comprised 99.82 percent or 18,909 persons. This is 0.74 thousand higher than the 18,166 household population in 2015, and 2.29 thousand more than the 16,624 household population posted in 2010. (Table A)

  • The remaining 0.18 percent of the total population is comprised of the institutional population or those residing in collective or institutional living quarters such as hospitals, orphanages, and military camps; and of Filipinos in Philippine embassies, consulates, and missions abroad.

 

Number of households increased by 0.47 thousand from 3.91 thousand in 2015 to 4.38 thousand in 2020

  • The total number of households in San Gabriel, La Union reached 4,381 in 2020. This is higher by 0.47 thousand compared with the 3,907 households in 2015 and by 0.87 thousand compared with 3,513 households in 2010. (Table B)

 

Two in every five households in the municipality are in Barangays Bumbuneg, Poblacion, and Bucao

  • Among the 15 barangays of the municipality, Bumbuneg had the most number of households in 2020 with 665, followed by Poblacion with 620, and Bucao with 499. These three barangays comprised 40.72 percent of the total households in the municipality. The barangay of Lipay Proper posted the least number of households with 111 households.

 

Average household size declines to 4.3 persons in 2020

  • The average household size (AHS) of the municipality decreased from 4.6 persons in 2015 to 4.3 persons in 2020. In 2010, there were 4.7 persons, on average, per household. (Table C and Figure 1)

  • Six out of 15 barangays posted an AHS higher than the municipality’s AHS of 4.3 persons.
